Brent McCollough is a multidisciplined musical talent. Hired for his vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar, harmonica, recording/mixing, mastering, backing tracks, arrangements, compositions, and more, he is a young and unique asset to the musical world.

Primarily an ear player but also classically trained, he is known for his ability to float in and out of genres. He emphasizes that “knowing when not to play is just as important as knowing what to play.” While he was living in Birmingham, he played piano with the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame Student All-Star Band and also played keyboards and sang for different bands all over Alabama. He also had the honor of performing for jazz legend McCoy Tyner and meeting the famous Herbie Hancock and Bruce Hornsby. Brent was offered prestigious music scholarships from Berklee College of Music, Belmont University, and full scholarships to the University of Alabama and University of New Orleans. Brent decided to design his own music degree at the University of Alabama that covers performance, business, songwriting, and production in order to best prepare for a contemporary music career.

Production

Brent records, mixes, produces, and masters all kinds of music, including his own. He began recording and mixing his own songs and bands that he performed with throughout junior high school using Pro Tools. Since then, he has recorded many different artists spanning all kinds of genres and has had much experience recording, mixing, and mastering professional tracks. He continues to run Brent McCollough Studios during his time at the University of Alabama. 

Recent Work

Today at the age of twenty-one, Brent recently graduated from the Univeristy of Alabama and freelances as a keyboardist/backup vocalist/programmer with bands such as The Black Jacket Symphony, Bonus Round, The Jeff Otwell Band, Bad Brad & the Sipsey Slims, Tux Shop Hero, and many more, covering oldies, country, hip hop, soul, rock, reggae, rap, jazz, and more. He has also worked as a worship leader at Taylorville United Methodist Church, performs in the University of Alabama Jazz Ensemble, and has played in musicals such as the Little Shop of Horrors at Theatre Tuscaloosa. He recently had the honor of meeting and playing with Jim Riley, the drummer for Rascal Flatts; Donny McCaslin, the jazz saxophonist; Jeff Holmes, the jazz pianist and composer; Andy LaVerne, the jazz pianist; Matt Slocum, the keyboardist for Jimmy Herring; and several more. In the summer of 2013, he toured with the Australian band, LONGREEF, as a tour manager, managing merchandise, mailing lists, making backing tracks for their live performances, doing live sound, and experiencing what it's like to live on the road. Brent also recently worked with Gloriana and Eric Hutchinson helping with sound and lights for their show at the Auburn Arena. In the summer of 2014, he toured all the way across the country with Koa, and in Summer 2015 he is touring with Koa again, playing at some of the biggest festivals in the US such as SouthBy SouthWest, SummerCamp, Wakarusa, Riverbend, Firefly, and Austin City Limits, to name a few.

Brent was recently accepted to the University of North Texas, where he will hone his skills studying under some of the most skilled musicians in the country.
