Description:
I perform with only the musical setting in mind, treating every gig/show individually and never defaulting to one approach, keeping each performance true and authentic no matter what style or genre, from orchestral to rock and roll.
Resume / Bio:
Born in Hollywood, FL, Daniel showed an interest in music at an early age and was gifted his first drum kit at the age of 10. He immediately fell in love with the instrument and joined the band programs in middle and high school, where he went on to win multiple superior awards at the state level and participated in All-County and All-District Honor bands.
Daniel continued his music education and graduated with a Music Performance degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, studying extensively with renowned percussionist and educator, Rick Dior. At UNCC, Daniel was a member of the Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band, traveling with the ensemble to Normandy, France for a commemoration of the 74th anniversary of D-Day. In addition, he was also a member of the Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble (including a concert with Vanguard Jazz Orchestra’s own Dick Oatts), Jazz Combo, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra. While completing his studies, Daniel became active in the Charlotte music scene performing with Will Campbell, Ron Brendle, Noel Freidline, Kenya Templeton, Emanuel Wynter, Ziad Rabie, Damon Clark, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and Daniel’s own co-project, The DJaM Collective, who released their debut album “Perception” in 2022 and performed a sold-out album release show at Petra’s Bar in Charlotte, NC.
As a dynamic drummer/percussionist, Daniel currently resides in Nashville, TN, and is seen performing nationally with acclaimed concert pianist Jason Lyle Black, or on stage with original artist Brother Dusty. He has also performed with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Canada. In town, Daniel gigs regularly, hosting his own bi-monthly jazz jam session at Em & Me Cafe in Germantown, as well as varying freelance work. Daniel offers studio and home recording services, and teaches lessons in the greater Nashville area.
