Resume / Bio:
Chuck Mead is best known for being a founding member of the three time Grammy nominated, CMA award winning 1990s Country Music group BR5-49. He is also a songwriter, artist, Music Supervisor, and record producer. Known as the architects of the resurgence of Nashville's Lower Broadway, BR5-49 released seven successful records, toured the world and built an indelible bridge between American roots music and a global audience.
A professional musician since the age of 13, he grew up playing in his family's country music band and honed his skills in several mid-western regional roots rock bands through the 1980s before moving to Nashville in the early 1990s and forming BR5-49.
Since the band's break up in 2006, Mead has released four critically acclaimed solo records, written hundreds of songs, and produced several recordings for a variety of artists including two successful tribute albums celebrating the music of Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
In 2006, Mead became Music Supervisor/Director for the Tony Award winning Broadway musical “Million Dollar Quartet.” He crafted arrangements for it's Chicago, Broadway, London's West End, Las Vegas, and national tour productions and also created arrangements for and supervised it's sequel “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas.” In 2016, Mead was the Music Producer/Supervisor for the television version of MDQ called “Sun Records” that aired on the CMT network and was directed by Oscar nominated director Roland Joffe. He was recently the Music Supervisor for the film “Neon Highway.” Chuck is graduate of Leadership Music Class of 2025.
