Description:
I am a lead, slide, and rhythm guitar player who specializes in classic and southern rock, outlaw country, and blues. My style has been compared to the likes of Duane Allman, Allen Collins, Carlos Santana, and Warren Haynes. I believe it is a musicians duty to constantly be learning new material and expanding their mind as to what music can be. Such devotion and dedication excels music to new horizons. I am looking to form an original group where each member will constantly strive to grow as a musician and see what new territories in music we can discover together as a group. I am available for session work, road gigs, and down to jam at anytime.
Resume / Bio:
Derek Harville is an aspiring guitarist who cut his teeth on classic and southern rock groups from the 60's and 70's such as The Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Rare Earth, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Grand Funk Railroad, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
He joined his first band at the age of 15 with Southern Rock bassist veteran Buzzy Meekins (Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, Dickie Betts, Vassar Clements).
At the age of 18 Derek formed his own group, Southern Aces Band, playing classic and southern rock covers from the 50's-80's, along with some country rock.
Shortly after forming Southern Aces, Derek caught the eye of Lynyrd Skynyrd Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer (Artimus Pyle) and began to play the great music of Ronnie Van Zant's Lynyrd Skynyrd along side the one of the original band's drummers.
Derek is currently living in the Nasvhille area and looking to form an original group that will have the intensity and soul of the timeless music by bands from the 60's and 70's.
